In general, these contributions adopt a critical tone and occasionally resort to unvarnished sarcasm\u2014after all, the aim is to keep a measured distance from what are ultimately instruments of killing\u2014rather than to slip into the enthusiasm of an aficionado. Nevertheless, readers will find ample factual information and exploration of relevant contexts throughout.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\">The collection comprises essays published between 2000 and 2023. Some have been shortened or revised but are not fully updated, remaining true to the time of their initial publication.
