The Pulse of Capitalism , published quarterly, was written and published by Andrew Caughey. The first issue appeared in April of 1987. The Commonwealth Institute provided Internet publication from 1998 through July of 2005. Archives of those issues (1998--2005) are available at this site.
Andrew Caughey was born in 1918 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh followed by employment at the Pittsburgh Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. After 34 years employment he retired in 1979; at the time he was manager of the accounting department of the bank. After retirement he developed an interest in economics and business developments, which led to his decision to publish the Pulse.
Economic statistics sited in the Pulse were revised routinely in the sources and may consequently differ from one issue to another.
